All members of ICPAU are required to submit an annual CPD return by 31 March of the following year for the period ending 31st December every year. ICPAU minimum required number of hours for CPD is 40 hours per year.  Of the 40 hours, 30 hours is required to be structured and 10 hours unstructured.  Out of the 30 hours of structured CPD not less than 10 hours should be from ICPAU CPD programmes for members resident in Uganda.  Non-resident members may acquire the 10 hours from member bodies of IFAC.   A member can take credit or compensate for extra or shortfall in a particular year as long as the member can make at least 120 hours in three consecutive years.  At least 60 hours should be verifiable. In the annual CPD return form where you declare compliance with the CPD requirement by crossing appropriate circle, different options available to each member are indicated.  You are required to choose one that best suits your circumstances.  Explanations of each option undertaken are as follows:

Professional accountancy bodies include ACCA, ICPAU, ICPAK, NBAA(Tanzania) etc.
Other Institutions can include your place of work, practising firms, banks, insurances, universities and colleges and any other institution not mentioned here that offers programmes relevant to your professional development.
Institutions other than accountancy institutions will include institutions of other professional disciplines other than accountancy that professional accountants serve in.  This caters for members who work in sectors other than accountancy and attendance at such training programmes or seminar sessions would develop and maintain their competence levels in respective sectors.
For programmes organized by other institutions and institutions other than accountancy professional institutes, presentations and certificates may be asked for in the evaluation procedure to determine the number of hours qualifying for CPD recognition. Members are required to retain the records and documents related to your CPD route undertaken for a period of three years.  You will be asked to submit evidence supporting attainment of required verifiable CPD hours when selected for monitoring by the Institute.   Signature of the form confirms compliance with ICPAU CPD requirements and indicates that you have developed your competence in relation to professional services you offer.
