TAXATION
Welcome to the Tax section of the ICPAU Website.
ICPAU has an established infrastructure to serve its members in the following activities;

  • Tax practitioners who regularly deliberate tax related matters;
  • Written submissions on existing and proposed legislation
  • Learning events in the form of seminars and workshops.

The Domestic and custom tax laws include the following;

Income Tax and VAT
The following income is subject to Income Tax; Employment Income, Property income and Business Income.
VAT is an indirect tax that is charged on taxable supplies.

Other tax laws include the following; The Excise Management Act, Stamp Act, Gaming and Pool betting Act and The EAC Customs Management Act.

The Excise Management Act.
This act was enacted to make provision for the control of the manufacture of excisable goods, the denaturing of spirits, for the collection of excise duties and for other matters relating thereto and connected therein. To download a copy, click this link.

The Stamp Act.

The Gaming and Pool Betting Act.
The Gaming and Pool betting Act was enacted to make provision for the licensing of and the imposition of a tax on gaming and pool betting and for other matters incidental thereto and connected therewith. To download a copy, click this link.

The EAC Customs Management Act.
This is an Act of the community to make provisions for the management and administration of customs and for related matters. Link
