When you join ICPAU, it becomes a commitment on your part to uphold the reputation of the accountancy profession in Uganda and beyond. All CPA(U)s should adhere to the Accountants Act and the code of ethical conduct issued by ICPAU and IFAC, plus applicable laws of the land. To ensure all members uphold these standards, a disciplinary committee is in place and there is a formal process that enables complaints about CPA(U)s to be heard, evaluated and, where appropriate, disciplinary action be taken. The disciplinary process is guided by the principles of fairness (the right for a member to put forward their case), confidentiality, independence, and the right to appeal. The whole process is undertaken to safe guard and enhance the public confidence in all CPA Uganda actions. While taking care of the public interest concerns of complainants, the process makes it possible to preserve the rights of members as professional accountants. |
