In Uganda, an Accountant is defined as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Associate Accountant registered under the Accountants Act. Currently, Uganda has a high demand for qualified Accountants.
Wide scope of employment: CPAs have various opportunities for employment. Because of their various skills, CPAs are much sought after for employment in different sectors and industries.
Self-employment: CPAs can go into public practice, by setting up audit firms, to provide a wide range of services, such as audit and assurance, business consultancy, tax consultancy, insolvency, etc.
Professional guidance: CPAs in Uganda receive professional support and guidance from ICPAU. This is provided through Continuing Professional Development seminars, the Institute’s magazines, email updates and other publications.
Networking: CPAs network and share experiences through various seminars and events organised by the Institute.
