Introduction
The Financial Reporting Awards (FiRe Awards) aim at encouraging the implementation of financial reporting standards as well as improving the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda.  The FiRe Awards will provide an opportunity to organisations that will participate, to benchmark their reports against the set criteria of good financial reports.  
Objectives of the FiRe Awards
•    To promote excellence in financial reporting through the publication of informative and factual reports.
•    To encourage effective communication of financial and business information.
•    To create public awareness of valid and objective measures of performance and promote a better understanding of the results achieved.
•    To create public awareness of the purposes of organisations, how they function, and their achievements.
•    To showcase best practices in financial reporting.

Participation in the FiRe Awards
The FiRe Awards are open to all organisations that produce annual reports.  Each annual report is judged against itself, based on its success in communicating its organisation’s story.  In order to be accepted for evaluation, the annual reports should cover any financial period ending within the year 2011. Each annual report submitted for the FiRe Awards, will be reviewed by at a team of expert judges who will provide written feedback to each participating organisation. Participation is free of charge.
