ICPAU to hold the 28th Annual Seminar and 2023 Accountancy Service Awards

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) is set to hold the 28th Annual Seminar and the 2023 Accountancy Service Awards (ASA) from 20 – 22 September 2023 at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe and online.

The theme of the Annual Seminar “Empowering Change for Corporate and Personal Growth” reinforces the need to embrace, encourage and cultivate a culture that pursues personal growth alongside business growth as a recipe for multiple levels of success by supporting opportunities for entry development and beyond.

“When properly implemented, change encourages leaders and their staff to work together towards common goals and makes employees more receptive to change,” said CPA Derick Nkajja, the Secretary/CEO of ICPAU.

ICPAU has selected an interesting lineup of topics to be discussed, namely:

  1. Keynote Address: Empowering Change for Corporate and Personal Growth

  2. Impact of Digital Transformation in Organisations

  3. Implementing ESG in a Ugandan Context

  4. Cancer Prevention & Management

  5. Corporate Communication in the Digital Age

  6. The Building and Construction Industry: Tips on the Right Process

  7. Creating a Sustainable Business: An Entrepreneur’s Journey

  8. Succession Law: Rights and Obligations

The Annual Seminar was introduced in 1995 to provide an avenue for accountants to enhance their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in non-technical fields such as personal finance, business, digital landscape, relationships, health, and parenting among other areas. It is the largest symposium of professionals in Uganda, attracting over 1,500 accountants, business leaders and executives, academicians, entrepreneurs, and other professionals.

 

The Annual Seminar will culminate into the 2023 Accountancy Service Awards. The aim of the ASA is to recognise individuals/entities/institutions that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the accountancy profession, in their communities, Uganda and beyond.

 

“Ultimately, holding the Accountancy Services Awards is a gesture through which ICPAU honours and acknowledges top-notch individuals, humanitarians and entities that are at the forefront of supporting and making a profound difference in the lives of individuals in communities and the accountancy profession in Uganda and beyond,” noted CPA Derick Nkajja, the Secretary/CEO of ICPAU.

There are eight categories for the 2023 Accountancy Service Awards namely;

  • ICPAU Gold Service Award

  • CPA of the Year Award

  • Young Accountant of the Year Award

  • Finance Team of the Year Award

  • Accounting Firm of the Year Award

  • Regional Network of the Year Award

  • Institutional Partner of the Year Award

  • Unique Humanitarian Award

The winners of the Awards will be announced on 22 September 2023 at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe.
