
CPA Richard Byarugaba is a full member of ICPAU since 2003.
Given his experience as the head of the Investment Committee at the Central Bank, Richard comes with a wealth of experience in negotiations with funding and development partners an attribute that may be needed by the Institute at this time as it undertakes very big projects.
Richard has mentored many accountants and auditors and has vast experience in developing and supervising government programmes where he has advocated for inclusivity.
His most important objectives are promotion of a vibrant Institute through increased engagement of members both locally and internationally, Advocacy and strategic partnerships, increased advocacy by members for the profession through engagements of key stakeholders and increased collaboration with other professional bodies, among others.
Under his leadership as the Executive Director Finance at BOU, all financial reports prepared by the directorate have received annual recognitions under the FiRe Awards organised by ICPAU and its partners.
Richard is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditor, and Information Systems Audit and Control Association. He holds a Masters degree in Finance from Giordano Dell’Amore Fondazione -Italy and a B.Com Accounting degree from Makerere University.
He serves at Bank of Uganda as the Executive Director Finance since 2018 and he is also practising under Kreg Associates.
