The Uganda National Woodball Federation (UWbF) has unveiled a National Woodball Team that will represent Uganda at the 10th Woodball World Cup Championships scheduled for July 2026 in Perlis, Malaysia.
The team was unveiled during the 16th edition of the ICPAU Junior Woodball Championships, organised by UWbF in partnership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). The tournament was held on 13 June 2026 at the Kyambogo University Peace Park Grounds.
The championship attracted 50 schools from across the country and brought together over 600 enthusiastic young players, highlighting the growing popularity of the sport among Uganda’s youth.
According to CPA Paul Mark Kayongo - President UWbF, the national team comprises professional woodball players who will represent Uganda at the World Championships for the first time.
“The Junior Woodball Championships have continually opened doors for young players by providing exposure and recognition of talent. Some members of the national team started as participants in the ICPAU Junior Woodball Championships. This team is tangible proof of the fruits of the partnership between UWbF and ICPAU,” said Kayongo.
He further applauded ICPAU, the chief sponsor of the tournament, noting that true organisational performance should extend beyond business success to include giving back to communities and supporting youth development.
For the past 16 years, ICPAU has sponsored the Junior Woodball Championships, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to promoting sports, education, and youth empowerment. This year, the Institute contributed UGX 21 million towards the tournament, reaffirming its commitment to supporting initiatives that foster both academic and non-academic excellence.
The Chief Guest, Ms Lydia Tusiime - Manager Business Development, ICPAU, performed the ceremonial tee-off and commended UWbF for its efforts in nurturing young talent, noting that such initiatives align with ICPAU’s purpose of nurturing professional, accountable, and responsive citizens.
“I congratulate the members of the national team who have been selected to represent Uganda in Malaysia. ICPAU is confident that its purpose of creating a positive impact within communities is being realised through such partnerships,” said Tusiime.
